Amahlathi Local Municipality holds Career Expo.

Amahlathi local municipality (ALM) has taken a stand in empowering youth within its demarcation footprint at the time where unemployment rate is sky rocketing.

ALM and Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) invited different stakeholders to present what opportunities they have.

Each ward was asked to send 3 people, 1 with grade 12, 1 with Degree and 1 with a business.

Department of Education infrastructure negligence.

The South African Department of Education continues with neglecting, for lack of a better word, empty school buildings, books and material.

My former high school, KwaDliso sen sec school, was officially closed in 2015. It was allegedly closed due to the number of children the had (it was too low).

The school has become a community hardware (material is stolen for the betterment of individuals).

I took the liberty to call the department of education, district level, reporting the vandalism and requesting for books and beds to be taken to other schools. Officials came and met with community members at KwaDliso. They promised to come back and take the books, beds and other useful materials to other schools. This was last year, 2021 and that was the last time seeing and hearing from them. This beautiful school continues to be vandalised.

It would be great to see the department utilising the closed schools to improve service delivery. Some of the material left in these closed schools can be used to building and improving other schools.

University of Fort Hare strike continues

Students grievances over centenary.

Fort Hare Alice students say they were not intending to disrupt the centenary celebrations but they wanted the management to attend to their problems. Yesterday night students gathered in front of Jabavu Hall to pave a way forward, in the meeting students agreed that they will close the entrances in the campus. The SRC was given a court interdict  not to be seen with mass gatherings, but rival political organisations promised to take the baton and lead the struggle.  The 14 students that were arrested last week are due to appear in court today. An SRC member posted on Facebook yesterday that the  president of Zimbabwe and  Fort Hare alumni  Robert Mugabe promised to pay for all the damages that werecaused by the students.
